Welcome to the Run Forest Run event on Finland’s Nature Day, August 30, 2025! This is a unique opportunity to experience Finland’s stunning lake scenery while challenging yourself.
Punkaharju is a unique, forest-covered ridge formation surrounded by pristine lakes. It is one of the world's first protected nature reserves and one of Finland’s most iconic national landscapes. Known for its picturesque views and rich history, Punkaharju has been a beloved travel destination for centuries.
One of its highlights is Harjutie, the scenic road running along the ridge, which has been named "the Road of the Century in Finland" due to its exceptional natural beauty.
CATEGORIES:
Hakki: 10.2 km
Tuplahakki: 17.7 km
The route mainly winds through the stunning and unique Punkaharju Research Forest and a designated nature conservation area. It follows the 7.7 km Hakinkierros loop trail, which alternates between forest paths and wider gravel roads.
Metsähallitus, the governmental agency responsible for Finland’s national nature conservation areas, classifies the route as moderately challenging. The highlights of the trail include massive larch trees, some of which were planted over 140 years ago. The route also passes Finland’s tallest tree, a 47-meter European larch. In addition to larch forests, the trail features other tree species that are more exotic in Finland.
Note! In addition to public outdoor trails, the event route also passes through some private properties. For this reason, the full route is accessible only on the event day.
